Meetup: Web Decentralization laboratory

Hands-on Workshop on Building Your Own Web.

Want to take control of your own corner of the internet?
Do you have a personal website, or would you like to build one? Are you interested in creating, maintaining and sharing web content without depending on commercial platforms?
The World Wide Web was originally designed as a space where everyone could both create and consume content. Yet today, most of us depend on platforms that limit our control over what we publish and how we connect.
This workshop explores how we can reclaim the web through personal websites, open technologies and decentralized networks such as webrings.

Who is the event for?
The workshop is for IT professionals, students and anyone curious about web development, digital independence and collaborative technologies.
Beginners and experienced developers are equally welcome. You don't need to be an expert, but you should be interested in learning by doing and sharing knowledge with others.

What will you get out of it?
• Hands-on experience with creating and maintaining your own website.
• An introduction to Git-based collaboration and decentralized web communities.
• Opportunities to explore practical web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and HTTP.
• A chance to exchange ideas, solve problems and connect with others who share your interests.

How will the meetup work?
We will start with an introduction to Git-based collaboration using personal repositories. From there, we will explore practical web development challenges together, adapting the discussion to participants' interests and experience.
The emphasis is on learning by doing, with time for questions, experimentation and documenting your solutions.

Could this become a regular network?
This first workshop is also an opportunity to explore whether there is interest in establishing an ongoing network of web enthusiasts and developers.
Together, we'll discuss possible topics, formats and future meetups, including opportunities for continued collaboration.

Bring your laptop, curiosity and ideas!
We'll provide tea, coffee and cookies. 🫖 ☕ 🍪
